The 3rd Annual FINAL FRAME Horror Short Film Competition

StokerCon, Providence, Rhode Island – March 1st – 4th, 2018


The Horror Writers Association is proud to announce the third annual short film competition held in conjunction with StokerCon 2018, held at the fabled Biltmore Hotel, in Providence, Rhode Island on March 1st through March 4th, 2018. Final Frame celebrates the darkest, weirdest and fantastic short horror films from around the globe.

Submission period starts August 15th, 2017 and remains open until January 15, 2018. All entries must be be 13 minutes long or less. Films must not be available to the public online or otherwise. To enter, please go to and hit “Click Here To Enter.”

Select films from the entries will be screened on Friday, March 2nd, 2018. A grand prize winner will be announced at the film competition’s cocktail reception once the screening is complete. The Final Frame Award and $1000 cash prize will be awarded to one film and one filmmaker as decided by a panel of industry judges.

Last year’s judges included Mike Flanagan (director of Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil and the upcoming Gerald’s Game); Rebekah McKendry (editor-in-chief of Blumhouse Productions); Daniel Knauf (creator of HBO’s Carnivale and writer/producer of Blacklist); Lisa Morton (author and president of Horror Writers Association); John Skipp (director of Tales of Halloween and pioneering horror author); Mike McCarthy (special effects industry expert, KNB EFX Group / Autonomous FX Inc.); and Mark Allan Miller (VP at Seraphim Films).

Grand prize is $1,000 and additional prizes will be announced prior to the competition.

Entry fee is $15 (USD) until December 15th. After that date, the entry fee is $25 (USD) from December 16th, 2017 – January 15th, 2018. Finalists will be notified by February 1st, 2018.  To enter, please go to and hit “Click Here To Enter.”
